What is a Lease?

Leasing gives you the advantage of driving a new vehicle, but without the commitment of ownership. A lease agreement typically lasts for two or three years, and you'll make monthly lease payments, which cover the cost of the lease's depreciation, during that time. The amount of miles you can drive in a year will be limited, but if you need more miles, you can pay for more.1

Benefits of Leasing

One of the main benefits of leasing is that it's affordable — your down payment and monthly payments will likely be less than if you bought the vehicle. Plus, because the vehicle you're leasing is new, and you'll only be driving it for a few years, you probably won't have to deal with extensive repairs or part replacements. That means you'll save on maintenance costs. Your vehicle should also be protected by a manufacturer's warranty the entire lease period, so you'll have peace of mind. Not only that — you'll get to lease a new vehicle every few years, if you want, which means you'll benefit from the latest updates in technology, safety systems and amenities.1

Your Lease-End Options

When your lease ends, you can choose between three options:

1

Trade in your lease for a new one.

2

Purchase the vehicle.

3

Return the lease.

If you've had a positive lease experience and are ready to start a new one, you can trade in your lease and upgrade to the newest version of the same vehicle or try a different one.

If you become attached to your vehicle during your lease period, you can choose to purchase it at the end of your lease. That way, you can keep driving it until you're ready for a change.

If you don't have immediate plans for buying or leasing another vehicle, or if you want to check out new options elsewhere, all you have to do is return your lease to the dealership and pay for damage or mileage overages, if applicable.
